UCSF Decision Services
Within the UCSF Breast Care Center, the purpose of Decision Services is to help patients make good decisions about their care. Good decisions are based on valid information and well-considered values.
Our programs are devoted to promoting education and participation for patients.
Our research program examines the effectiveness, economics, and expansion of our patient care services. (See evidence.)
We teach decision making and participation skills to patients, the general public, medical students, and doctors.
As a public service, we share our materials with individuals through presentations, websites, publications and other outreach activities.
All these programs are sustained by grants, donations, contracts, and feedback.
